Case Description
My jaw has been popping for the past fifteen years at least and it can get really sore at times. Also, in the past few years I have noticed that the teeth that I have highlighted below are becoming increasingly sharp as if they are rubbing together and feels like they do not "fit" together. It is terribly uncomfortable, more sometimes than others. I am terrified of going to the dentist and have not been since I was a teenager, I am twenty five now. Can anyone help me?

Are You This Patient?
When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Yes.You are describing TMJ problems. In a lot of cases of TMJ, I use an appliance called an NTI. Rather than try to explain what is a very comlex problem and treatment, I would refer you to the websitehttp://www.headacheprevention.com/Look at the section titled "About the NTI" There are some good explainations of TMJ pain and the headaches and other symptoms that it can cause. The NTI is a simple device that we make here in the office...no shots, no drilling :) You didn''''t mention if you were having headaches or migraines, but these are usually symptoms of someone your age with TMJ too. All of this is precipitated by stress..that is it gets worse when you''''re stressed and better when you''''re not. If you check out the website and see some of your problems, check out my office at http://www.alansalomon.com. We can help if you''''re "terrified." We have nitrous oxide (laughning gas) sedation. I doubt you would need anything more for diagnosis or TMJ treatment. If you need some dental work, we could also give you a Rx to take before you come to the office...a "happy" pill...if you need it. Hope this helps.
